“to know Christ and to make Him known”
Christ the King is a diverse community seeking to know Christ and make Him known. Our family is composed of infants, folks in their 90s, and every age inbetween. We are single, couples, and families from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. We welcome all to join our fellowship–for a single occasion or for a lifetime! We value children as full members of God’s family, and provide a nursery with qualified staff at all times when we gather.
Worship is a central element of our life together, and therefore is varied and rich. We emphasize the mystery of encountering God in all of our worship. On Sundays, our 8:00 a.m. Holy Eucharist is a simple and quieter gathering. The 9:30 a.m. Holy Eucharist tends to be more vibrant with traditional and contemporary music, a children’s sermon, and prayers for healing. A time of Fellowship and Christian Education for all ages follows the 9:30 a.m. service. On Wednesday evenings, we gather for a service of Prayer and Praise at 6:30 p.m. with a time of teaching following. A Healing Service and Eucharist occurs each Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Bible Study. Of course, other worship services are added to celebrate feast days and special occasions.
Community is valued highly at
Christ the King. Community isn't just a nice add-on; but it is who we are
as a church. It’s how we can support and encourage each other. We have
lots of time for fellowship with gatherings every Sunday, monthly dinners,
and special events scheduled regularly. Small groups also gather on a weekly
basis in which people come together for friendship and support.
At Christ the King, we seek for every one to be involved in the work and ministries
of the church. There are committees to support our youth, take care of our
buildings and grounds, serve those in need, develop opportunities for Christian
formation, aid in planning, preparing, and serving in worship, and many more.
Opportunities abound for those who would like to get involved!
Servant ministry is essential to fulfilling our mission “to make Christ known.” At Christ the King we do this as individuals by providing meals, transportation, small home repairs, and the like. We house a county-sponsored Montessori school, open our buildings to community groups such as AA, and have a food pantry on site. Some of our other endeavors include: sponsoring a large neighborhood party for Halloween, supporting families in need during holiday times, participating in the Souper Bowl and Relay for Life, co-sponsoring Kids Games, and offering mission trip opportunities.
At Christ the King, we let visitors remain visitors as long as they wish; however, we also encourage folks to grow into the life of our community and ministry as they are comfortable.
